latest v1.1.1-fabric-mod Modrinth
Datapack Fabric Forge Neoforge Quilt 1.20.1 – 26.1.2 Equipment

Installation:

-Extra Bows (Data).zip file goes into the datapack folder of your world.

-Extra Bows (Resources).zip file goes into your resource pack folder and must be enabled for this datapack to work!

If you cannot find the required resource pack, it can be found by:

  1. Clicking this link
  2. Download "Extra Bows (Resources).zip" like normal

-File names that end with "-fabric-mod" or "-neoforge-mod" are real mod jars, not packaged datapacks! This means they actually add items!

Additionally, if you like Better Bows, you can also use Extra Bows 3D for compatibility.

This datapack adds tiered bows and crossbows. This means stone to netherite gets their own bow and crossbow.

Tiered Bows

Their crafting recipes are as follows:

Bows just require you to add two more pieces of your desired material.

Bow crafting template

Crossbows require you to replace the top and bottom middle with your desired material.

All bows and crossbows have been changed to now have a "ranged damage" and "strafe speed" stat.

Ranged damage stat

Ranged damage adds bonus damage to shot arrows.

Strafe speed affects the speed of which you move when using a bow. For all items, 0.2 is default, 1.0 for spears. This mod adds this to the tiered bows as well.

Stats are as follows:

Do note that wooden bows and crossbow are vanilla bows and crossbows, which had their stats adjusted to match wooden tools. 2 ranged damage is the same as vanilla bows and crossbows.

Durability and Enchantability stats are the same as their material tiers.

Notice how crossbow damage scaling is higher. This is because they cannot receive the power enchantment. This makes diamond and netherite crossbows deal up to or more than 20 hearts of damage.

Other vanilla changes:

-All bows can now be repaired with planks the same way wooden tools do.

-Crossbows had their crafting recipe changed to require any wood as supposed to iron.

Changed crossbow recipe

-If a skeleton spawns with higher tier armor, they will also spawn with a bow of that respective tier. For example: a parched spawning with copper armor will cause it to spawn with a copper bow.

-Piglins spawn with a golden crossbow as supposed to a wooden one.

-Pillager patrol leaders will spawn with a stone crossbow as supposed to a wooden one.

Some other notes:

-"Stone" bows/crossbows are only named that way for consistency, they are actually reinforced bows/crossbows.

-All existing bows and crossbows will be automatically converted to this datapack's version of them. This means that if you have a bow or crossbow that is damaged more than 64 times, they will likely break instantly upon entering the world with this pack enabled.

Known issues:

-All bows and crossbows can be upgraded into their netherite variant, including the netherite versions themselves. To accomodate for the latter issue, crafting a netherite bow or crossbow with another netherite bow or crossbow will refund the netherite ingot and upgrade template to the player.

-All bows and crossbows can be used to repair each other in anvils and crafting tables even if both bow or crossbow used are of different tiers. This also has the unintended side effect of being able to transfer the enchantments of a lower tier bow to a higher tier one. There is sadly no fix for this until Mojang adds a way.
