Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 January 2026. This policy explains what data Modgrid collects, why, and what control you have over it.
1. What we collect
- Account data. If you register, we store your username, email address and a securely hashed password. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and are never stored or logged in plain text.
- Content you post. Threads, replies and questions you publish on the community forum are stored and shown publicly alongside your username.
- Session cookies. A single signed session cookie keeps you logged in. A language cookie remembers your interface language. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
- Basic logs. Standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, requested path) are kept short-term for security and abuse prevention.
2. What we don't collect
We don't sell your data. We don't run third-party ad networks. We don't build advertising profiles. We don't require any personal information beyond an email and a username to use the community features, and you can browse and download without an account at all.
3. Third-party sources
When you click a download link, you're taken to the original platform (Modrinth, CurseForge or GitHub). Those services have their own privacy policies that govern what happens once you leave Modgrid.
4. Data retention & deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated posts at any time. Once deleted, your email and password hash are removed; public posts may be anonymized rather than erased to preserve thread continuity.
5. Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions use signed, HTTP-only cookies. We follow standard practices to protect data in transit and at rest, though no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.
