I like grass and flowers, but for most builds whenever I use bonemeal, I prefer the short grass over the tall grass unless I'm going for a wild nature look. This gives you the option whether you want tall grass or only short grass.

Left clicking with bonemeal, bonemeals with only short grass.
Right clicking with bone meal, bonemeals with tall grass (the normal way).
