One Block
ModrinthThis data pack adds one block a popular challange to your minecraft
One Block — Random Item Void
Spawn on a single block floating in an empty world and survive on a never‑ending rain of random items.
One Block drops you onto one lonely block in the middle of the void. Every few seconds a fresh item appears on your block — and it can be anything. Every item in the game has exactly the same chance to show up, so no two runs ever feel the same. Collect what you get, craft, and build your way out into the emptiness.
Features
- True void world — the whole overworld generates empty. All you start with is your block.
- Random item rain — a new item drops onto your block at a set interval, with every item equally likely (over 1,400 possible items).
- Completely fair loot — no weighting and no luck stat, just pure equal chance across every normally obtainable item. Creative‑only and technical items (command blocks, spawn eggs, barriers, etc.) are excluded.
- Two modes:
- Singleplayer / co‑op — one shared block for everyone in the world.
- Server — every player automatically gets their own private island, far away from the others. The world scales itself as people join, and you always respawn back on your own island.
- No falling out — drop into the void and you're safely returned to your block instead of dying.
- Configurable — change the spawn interval (and the island spacing on servers) with a single command. No file editing needed.
Compatibility
Builds are provided for every Minecraft version from 1.18 to the latest snapshot, each with the exact pack format so you never get a version warning. The server version requires 1.20.2 or newer (it uses function macros to give every player their own island).
Installation
- Singleplayer: When creating a world, open More → Data Packs, drag the matching ZIP into the left box, and create the world.
- Server: Place the matching ZIP into
<server>/<world>/datapacks/before the first launch.
The void only generates on a freshly created world, so start a brand‑new world with the pack enabled.
Settings (in‑game commands)
- Spawn interval —
/scoreboard players set #interval ob_config <ticks>(singleplayer) or/scoreboard players set #interval ob <ticks>(server). Default is 60 ticks (3 seconds). - Island spacing (server only) —
/scoreboard players set #spacing ob <blocks>.
Stand on the block. Take what the void gives you. Build something out of nothing.
