RespawnNearby

RespawnNearby changes the default Minecraft respawn system by spawning players near their death location instead of sending them back to the world spawn or bed spawn.

This reduces long recovery journeys after death while still preserving the challenge of survival gameplay.

Perfect for Survival, SMP, Adventure, and Community servers.

Why RespawnNearby?

In vanilla Minecraft, dying often means traveling hundreds or even thousands of blocks to return to your items.

When deaths happen repeatedly, this quickly becomes frustrating and slows down gameplay.

RespawnNearby solves this problem by placing players at a random location near where they died.

Players can return to their items faster while still needing to navigate back and survive.

Features

✔ Random respawn near the death location

✔ Configurable minimum and maximum respawn distance

✔ Safe location detection

✔ Nether support

✔ World blacklist support

✔ Custom commands executed on respawn

✔ Configurable messages and ActionBars

✔ Permission-based bypass system

✔ Death locations remain saved even after server restarts

✔ Lightweight and optimized

How It Works

When a player dies, the plugin calculates a random respawn position around the death location.

Example configuration:

minimum-distance: 25

maximum-distance: 100

safe-location-check: true

override-bed-spawn: true

With these settings:

  • Players will never respawn within 25 blocks of their death location.
  • Players will respawn at a random distance between 25 and 100 blocks.
  • Safe locations are automatically selected when enabled.
  • Bed respawns can be overridden if desired.

Respawn Radius Example

      Maximum Radius (100)
        #####################
      #### ####
    ### ###
   ## ##
   ## DEATH ##
   ## LOCATION ##
   ## X ##
   ## ##
    ### ###
      #### ####
        #####################
  Inner Radius (25 blocks)

  No respawn locations
  are selected here.

The player is spawned randomly between the minimum and maximum radius, never directly on top of the death location.
